Volunteers' "Big
Kids" Party
On
10th October 2009, Make-A-Wish® staff and volunteers gathered
at the
River Place Clubhouse for their annual Volunteers’ Party.
With
plenty of yummy food and goodies available including a DIY ice-cream
station, our volunteers were loaded with plenty of energy for the
volunteer games including a Make-A-Wish variation of the classic game,
‘Musical Chairs’, this time with funky hats and
funky poses instead.
|
Chairman, Dr Keith
Goh also made a short speech thanking the volunteers
for their hard work, calling them the “very core of the
Foundation”.
After the evening’s festivities were over, tokens of
appreciation were
given to special groups of volunteers in recognition of the
extraordinary effort some went through in wish-granting and
fundraising. All the volunteers enjoyed their night of fun thoroughly,
leaving refreshed and looking forward to another year of helping
Make-A-Wish Singapore.

Hawaiian Party 2007
On 21 September 2007, a
Hawaiian Pool Luau Party was thrown in honour
of the volunteers. This was a wonderful opportunity to reward the
volunteers who are the heart and soul of this organization. Karen
&
Wayne Peat graciously opened their home to an evening of fun and
socializing. Volunteers from all walks of life had the chance to meet
one another, share experiences and enjoy a relaxing evening together.
Each guest was adorned at the door with Hawaiian lei, and an exclusive
Make-A-Wish star keychain. The night followed with sumptuous BBQ food,
lucky draws, special fun volunteer awards and lots of mingling with new
friends.

The highlight of the
evening was a group sharing event, when each person recounted their
first Magic Wish Moment. Tears were shed and laughs were gained by this
revealing exercise. “It is moments like these that make life
worth living,” said Lars. The evening was made complete with
a special screening of a heart-warming video; featuring six adorable
Wish Children thanking their wish granters for touching their lives
with their magic. It is the passion of the volunteers that keeps
Make-A-Wish going and we salute you for that.
